Hi and welcome by Silvio and Barbara!
We’re a couple based in Cagliari, in southern Sardinia. We live here, but our roots are from the North of the island.
Like many people who call Sardinia “Home”, we never stopped discovering it. Even after years of living in the Capital and in the island, there is always another beach, another village, another road, another restaurant, another viewpoint and another story waiting around the corner.

Why we started Sardinia IRL
We created Sardinia in Real Life because we felt there was space for a different kind of travel website, more useful/practical and and less “tourist”. Not another collection of generic guides, not another list of “Top 10 Things To Do”, there’s lot of similar contents out there (and some of them are really well done). We would like this site to be a place where we could share our experience ourselves: practical, imperfect, surprising and real.
A little more about us
We do not work in the tourism industry and we’re not professional travel influencers. We work in the digital market and photography (in particular, I’m a content editor and advisor, Barbara is a professional who works in the beauty market and photography. We’re simply curious people who enjoy exploring our city and the island, then sharing what we find with travellers looking for a different, local and more personal perspective.
We like the sea, but often more in the off-season than in the middle of summer. We enjoy discovering new places more than ticking off famous attractions. We love good food in all its forms, not just traditional Sardinian cuisine.
Most of all, we believe every destination deserves to be seen beyond its stereotypes.
Still exploring
One thing we’ve learned is that Sardinia is much bigger and more complex than it may appear from the outside.
We certainly don’t pretend to know everything about it. In fact, we’re still exploring it ourselves. And that’s exactly what makes this project exciting.
Thanks for stopping by. We hope you’ll enjoy the journey with us!
