Sardinia is often reduced to a handful of postcard images: turquoise water, white beaches, summer holidays and the same famous places shown again and again.
And while that side of the island certainly exists, it’s only part of the story.
Sardinia in Real Life was created to explore the island beyond the postcard version: through places, experiences and practical advice based on direct experience and local knowledge.
What you’ll find here
On this site you’ll find beaches, villages, towns, restaurants, cafés, food experiences, practical travel tips, itineraries and local discoveries.
There will be articles about Cagliari and the surrounding areas, especially at the beginning, because this is where we live most of our daily lives. Over time, the map will grow.
Some articles will be practical. Some will be more personal. Some may simply begin with a place we visited on a normal day and felt was worth sharing.
What this site is not
Sardinia IRL is not a travel agency. It is not a luxury travel magazine. And it is not a collection of generic destination pages written about places we have never visited.
We are not interested in filling the web with more copy-paste travel content, AI-style destination pages or brochure-like descriptions. We are interested in sharing real experiences, useful impressions and honest suggestions.
Direct experience first
Whenever possible, we write about places we have actually visited ourselves.
If we recommend a beach, restaurant, village or experience, it is because we know it firsthand or have researched it with real care.
No AI-generated travel guides
We don’t use AI to generate destination guides for places we have never seen.
AI can be a useful tool for editing, research and organization, but the experiences, observations and recommendations published here are based on real places and real experiences.
We prefer recommendations over complaints
The internet already contains countless negative reviews and angry travel stories. Our goal is different.
We prefer to focus on places, experiences and discoveries that we genuinely think are worth your time.
That doesn’t mean every place is perfect. If something is difficult to reach, crowded or inconvenient, we’ll say so. But our focus is helping readers discover things they might actually enjoy.
